El Junyent farmhouse
El Junyent is an isolated farmhouse in the municipality of Fonollosa, in the Bages region. In the civil registry of Fonollosa there is the first mention of this farmhouse in the 11th century.
The building, like most farmhouses, has been built in stages that correspond to the successive stages of growth of agricultural activity in the area. The oldest part is now located on the semi-basement floor and has walls over 150cm thick and stone vaults.
A body with a ground floor and a ground floor dated of the 16th century entrance lintel is clearly recognized. The last extension corresponds to the 19th century, when the phylloxera in France made wine sector in Catalonia prosper and corresponds to the east wing of the house.
The building consists of a ground floor, a ground floor and a loft . There is a main house, a house for the “masovers” and a wine and oil tank, a flour and oil mill, a stable, a chicken coop and a pigsty around a courtyard.
The building was in poor condition but with many original elements that have been tried to preserve. The floor and beams have been repaired only partially and with original tiles and beams recuperated from demolitions.
The ground floor has been refurbished as a dwelling, the bathrooms and kitchen have been built and the building has been equipped with electrical installation, heating and water.
The rehabilitation aims to be as discreet as possible. The intervention takes special care of the environmental aspects:
– Careful work to improve the sealing of the enclosure.
– Insulation of the upper face of the ground floor ceiling to reduce energy losses.
– PH certified wood exterior carpentry.
– Installation of biomass boiler.
– Installation of biological water treatment plant.
